Don't Lose Your Pet to Teeth Cleaning!

This is my story on how I lost my Yorkie Sparky.  He was 5 years old and the vet said he  needed his teeth cleaned.  So I decided to take him to the vet, which I trusted with my pets for over 25 years.

My husband and I went to pick him up that evening from the vet.  We waited and waited.  Finally we asked what was taking so long. They said that they are going to keep him overnight.  I asked if I could see him and they told me to stop back tomorrow. I got persistent and the Vet told his assistant to bring me back to see him. I went back where they had Sparky on a cold, stainless steel table.  His eyes were rolled back into his head.  His tongue was hanging out.  They had an IV in him.  The vet was trying to resuscitate him.  What happened is he went back under the anesthesia.  The Vet reassured me that everything would be fine.  I gave Sparky a kiss on his little head and told him, whether he could hear me or not, that I would be back early in the morning to get him. When I got home that evening, I called to check on him and they said that he was doing ok. Now if we would not have stopped in to pick him up, he would have passed away that evening.

So I went back the next morning to pick him up.  They said that they gave him a bath because he was a mess with all the stuff that was on him. So that was ok.  I started out for home.  I did not even get out of town and he started breathing funny.  So I called the Vet’s office on my cell phone and they told me that with all the medication that they had given him and by putting the tube down his throat, that is why his breathing sounds funny.  OK I went along with that but by the time I got home it was worse.  So I called back and asked to speak with the Vet again. He told me the same thing but this time treated me like I was an overreacting mother.   An hour later he passed away.

They had him down with a weight of 5 pounds.  He was only 4 pounds.  They pulled more teeth than what we were told.  I think it put to much stress on a little dog.  They did the autopsy and could not find anything wrong.  To this day, they say they don’t understand why he died but I know why.
